Metal Clay
What is Metal Clay?
Over a decade ago a Japanese scientist named Dr. M Morikawa invented a material that consisted of finely
powdered pure metal combined with a nontoxic organic binder, and water. What resulted was a substance
that could be manipulated like clay, dried, then fired in a kiln resulting in the binder and water dissipating, leaving
the metal in the shape it was formed into.
Magic! This process allowed the novice jewelry enthusiast to create stunning fine silver, gold, copper, bronze, and steel
jewelry pieces without the expensive tools or training needed for fabricating and soldering.
Metal Clay is produced by two manufacturer's in lump, paste, paper, and syringe form and offers the user
great versatility to combine synthetic gems, enamel, and glass forms. Each metal clay formula requires it's own
firing time and temperature.
