I create wearable art from found materials, (often called up-cycled, recycled, repurposed, and re-invented) that I scrounge from whatever is on hand. I am also developing a line of hand cut stone and silver work.
I teach Beginner's Metal Clay Classes in fine silver. Classes run 8 hours in duration. Supplies, tools and handouts are provided. I am a retired Licensed Art Educator and love learning with my students!! All of my classes are listed on http://www.meetup.com Click on the link and type in my 87529 zip code and Leav Bolender or Metal Clay.
I mentor women using the Visual Journal as a healing practice. I have a background in Social Work and over 30 years of group facilitation experience. The basis of my work revolves around the Visual Journal, which each student personally creates as a treasure of their healing journey. No art experience is required. The groups meet twice monthly and the sessions are two hours in duration. The participation is "open-ended" i.e. work as long as you need and leave when you are ready. I recycle! You name it, I make it new. Currently I am reworking original pieces of my jewelry and metal scraps I have kept for years. I make license plates, galvanized drain pipes, discarded copper, bottle caps, and refigerator magnets into wearable treasures. The silver I use is recycled and refined from scrap. Mostly I just love to experiment and see what the materials dictate.
